A FAMILY STORY

YESTERDAY TODAY

The company was founded in Brescia in 1966 from the idea of two fellow metalworkers, in their early forties, who by combining the first two letters of their wives' names founded the company “Officina Meccanica Irma”. The workshop was initially equipped with 2 used lathes and 1 manual milling machine are located in a small building of just over 200 m2 in via Genova in Chiesanuova (BS). After a few years, one of the two founders, Mr. Giuseppe Gosio, remains in sole command of the company and with the acquisition of new customers and new orders he begins to grow the workshop.

These were the years of the economic boom and, in the meantime, with the prospect of his son Roberto joining the company, once he had completed his studies in mechanical engineering, he purchased land in via Rieti also in the Chiesanuova district for the construction of the new headquarters equipped of production department, warehouse and offices.

Initially the supply sector was the textile one and in particular components were produced for the construction of sock machines.

In 1980, the company moved permanently to its current headquarters in via Rieti with approximately 1000 m2 of covered surface area. In those years, with the entry of the new generation, the company was introduced into the world of new numerical control technologies thus replacing traditional machinery.

In 2016 the company celebrated its 50th year of activity and with the entry of the third generation, IRMA, in order to increase its competitiveness, has in recent years aimed at a new technological change both in terms of the management system through the implementation of a new ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software with related MES (Manufacturing Execution System), and with the gradual replacement of increasingly high-performance CNC machines with lower energy impact.

We are associated:

MISSION: price,

quality and punctuality

IRMA has specialized for over 50 years in the field of subcontracting mechanical components based on customer designs through the implementation of turning, milling and grinding operations.

The company is characterized by flexibility both in terms of the size of the piece to be made and the size of the batch to be processed.

MISSION: ATTENTION TO THE SERVICE LEVEL

The evolution of the market and the increasingly demanding requests from the customer have led us to review our corporate "mission" over the years; if initially the relevant element was only qualitative, now we focus on the level of service or rather we try to optimize the three indispensable characteristics: price, quality and punctuality of delivery.

Sustainability: a fundamental concept for the company

IRMA has always focused attention on two aspects that we believe are fundamental for company growth and closely linked: PEOPLE & ENVIRONMENT The staff, currently made up of 20 people employed on a permanent basis, of which 5 are indirect, has always been a priority for our company. Since the beginning the idea has always been to focus attention not only on the working relationship but above all on the human aspect; Winning idea and demonstrated by the fact that many of our employees have dedicated their working lives to IRMA, arriving as teenagers and leaving the company only upon reaching retirement age.

In recent decades, the company has set itself the objective of investing part of its capital in energy efficiency and in reducing the impact of oil mist emissions created by machinery by installing a centralized extraction system in the workshop.

The most significant investments were instead made to reduce energy consumption: the most important was in 2012 with the installation of a photovoltaic system with an annual production of approximately 30MW. Still from this perspective, a new compressor with inverter was recently installed (reduction in electricity consumption by over 50%) and finally the lighting in the production department was replaced with new LED lighting fixtures which, in addition to a significant reduction in consumption of electricity, allow the reduction of maintenance costs (useful life of LED lamps approximately 12 years).
